Our Muscles Matter

Ask your MSs to help babies in Wales.

We must act now. We urgently need every baby in Wales to be screened for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) shortly after birth.

We can’t sit by. Without newborn screening, babies are being diagnosed too late to receive effective treatment to prevent permanent muscle damage. Many will rely on feeding tubes and equipment to help them breathe, and may never take their first steps freely.

MSs listen to their constituents. And we need your MSs help to make this happen. If they support newborn screening, the Minister is more likely to make it happen.

Please email your MSs. Babies with SMA don’t have time to wait.
